ELCOME to the
second edition of UK Baha'i Review. The UK summer may not
been too bright so far, but the Baha'i community has been
infused with fresh energy in its work now that the gardens
and terraces at the Baha'i World Centre in Haifa, Israel,
have been opened with due ceremony.
Of course, buildings, no matter how beautiful, are not everything.
A faith: community is its people and the lives, they lead
in response to its foundational teachings. In this UK Baha'i
Review, we've highlighted Baha'is in the arts academia, and
humanitarian service, as well some of the community's Work
on governance, international justice and urban regeneration.
People the world over draw inspiration from sacred texts,
from their communities from stories about what others are
doing, from a sense that something must be done to improve
the world in which we live.
Their effort gain in significance by being part of the vision
of a global community.
If the Baha'i community has something distinctive to offer
to the peoples of the world, it must surely be of being part
of a single human family for whose spiritual and material
health we all have responsibility.
Barnabas Leith,
Secretary General
Baha'i Community of the UK
